Oaks in Charnwood is a tiny hamlet of scattered houses
in the ancient Parish of Charley and lies between the towns
of Whitwick, Shepshed and Coalville in
what once was Charnwood Forest and is now the New
National Forest.
Close by are sites of geological importance and areas of outstanding
natural beauty and the unique landscape never fails to surprise
and impress the visitor whether walking, cycling or motoring.
St. Joseph's is centrally situated for many attractions in
Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire
and the Cistercian Abbey of Mount St Bernard is within
walking distance.

From the M1, leave at Junction 23 and turn
west onto the A512 towards Ashby de la Zouch
and travel approximately 2 miles until reaching the second
set of traffic lights. Turn left into Iveshead Road,
following signs to Mount St Bernard Abbey; at the second
set of (staggered) crossroads, turn right into Oaks Road
and the entrance to St Joseph's Cottage is about 100
yards on the left hand side, following the drive across the
field.
